Yancey being relatable again

For almost four decades (yikes!) I've worked as a freelance writer, feeling enormously blessed to make a good living by writing about issues of faith that I would want to explore even if no one bought my books.
Here.

Propel

It's every writer's dream to make the reader forget, for once and forever, the plays of Shakespeare, the novels of Updike, the prose of Orwell, and the poetry of Elizabeth Bishop. We strive to produce the piece that propels a genre from the post-modernism of yesteryear to the next unimaginable genre of the future. ~C.G. '10

A completed poem as a finished egg

I found the following haiku written on the back of a three-ring sheet of notebook paper, tucked away in The Complete Idiot's Guide to Slam Poetry, a book I have had since high school. I googled the lyrics to see if it was original. I think I wrote it:

"Poems are like eggs / You don't want to eat the yolk / Until it's cooked"

If your mind can go there...

Self-actualize and realize, do what you got to do
If you can see it, you can be it, manifest, it's up to you
Everybody self-actualize and realize, do what you got to do
If you can see it, you can be it
If your mind can go there, then why can't you?
If your mind can go there, then why can't you?
If your mind can go there, then why can't you?

Junior Year of HS All Over Again

I start to think, and then I sink
Into the paper, like I was ink
When I'm writing I'm trapped in between the line
I escape when I finish the rhyme

Embarassing (It Was Me)

I called her phone
Waited for her to say "Hello."
Brought up her tweets angrily
"Who is that you're talking about?"
She informed me it was me
So, so embarassing
Shows there's little trust
Angry, she's become
Apologies a must
I'm sorry for doubting you, baby
But see I've been in something like
This before
But you're nothing like that and I'm sorry
I should've been careful more
